Lifelong is the leading provider of medically tailored meals for people living with life-challenging illnesses in the PNW.

Our team of talented chefs works closely with our team of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) to create a wide variety of medically tailored meals to support people’s health, taking into account their nutritional and medical needs. Our meals are based on guidance from the USDA and the American Heart Association and contain a balance of nutrients including vegetables, grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats, incorporating a wide array of culinary traditions and cultures.

About our meals

All our meals feature fresh, high-quality ingredients–including vegetables and herbs. Meals are delivered on a set day of the week. We offer eight meal options for a variety of cultural and dietary preferences, all of which can be adjusted to soft textures for those with chewing or swallowing difficulties:

  • Healthy Standard: These meals are our most diverse, with a variety of protein sources, both animal (chicken, fish, beef, pork) and plant (beans and nuts), grains, vegetables, and fruit.

  • Easy Digestion: These meals do not contain beef, pork, vegetables from the cabbage family, corn, nuts, spicy spices, pepper(s) of any kind, or beans, and are low-lactose and limited-acidity. Some meals may contain limited amounts of whole (not concentrated) tomatoes.

  • Dialysis Care: Meets the needs of those on kidney dialysis. Meals are low in sodium, potassium, and phosphorus, yet provide appropriate amounts of protein.

  • Gluten-Free/Dairy-Free*: These meals do not contain any dairy products or food containing gluten.

  • Vegetarian: These meals contain no beef, pork, poultry, or fish, but may contain options with dairy or eggs and are not suitable for a vegan diet.

  • No Beef or Pork: These meals contain no beef or pork, but will have options with fish and poultry.

  • No Fish: These meals contain no fish or shellfish.

  • No Nuts*: These meals contain no nuts or nut products.

*Our kitchen is not a certified allergen-free kitchen, some cross-contamination of gluten, dairy, nuts, or other ingredients may occur in the cooking process and is not suitable for those with celiac disease or other severe food allergies. Please speak with your care advocate about any concerns regarding your specific needs.

Eligibility criteria vary but generally include those who:

  • Live in King, Island, or Snohomish Counties.

  • Are low-income.

  • Live with a life-challenging illness such as cancer, HIV, diabetes, kidney disease, or other illness.

  • Have documented difficulty preparing or accessing nutritious foods due to illness, treatment, or other disability.
